Another great buy on a big, lush red wine. Here’s another El Cheapo wine that rocks, Red Diamond Merlot. This was the house wine at several of the family homes for a while before it got dethroned by the Columbia Crest Vineyard 10. We think this one may be a little less ‘refined’ than the Vineyard 10, but it’s just as good a deal (goes better with dark chocolate, too…probably ‘cuz it’s jammier). It’s been running at $7.99 at the Roth’s Sunnyslope (it was $6.99 at Freddy’s ’til they took all their wines off sale…booooo).
Once again, a description stolen directly from the winemaker’s website (hey, they’re the professionals):
“Just wait until you try it! Our juicy Washington Merlot is brought to life by a splash of Cabernet Sauvignon for structure and complexity while Cabernet Franc rounds out the fruity characteristics. Perfectly balanced fruit, lush tannins and acidity, Red Diamond Merlot will make your mouth water for more.“
See? We told you so!
