This has got to be one of the best wine deals ever for sure, though Columbia Crest has always been a great value no matter which of there wines you choose. This one is everything that we think a red wine should be: deep, rich red, full flavored, smooth and a nice bit of fruit. It’s become the official House Wine with the whole family, pretty much.
Here’s the tasting notes we stole directly from the Columbia Crest website:
“Blackberry and raspberry aromas unfold from the glass. Ripe currant and plum fruit flavors balance the fine acidity and a reveal a palate of polished tannins. The flavors open up beautifully on the long, soft finish.” -Ray Einberger, Winemaker
We’ve had quite few Columbia Crest wines, especially of the Cab/Shiraz/Merlot varieties. They are consistently rated in the 85 to 90 point range and they always deliver big, fruit-forward reds for under $10 a bottle.
The Two Vines Vineyard 10 comes in at 88 points and it’s frequently on sale for around $6 (try Fred Meyer). which is a very good price for a wine this good. It’s also frequently on sale at Roth’s Fresh Markets for $6.99 (also a very good price).
Cheers!
